..Apologies..
Gypsy Gems,
I haven’t made a post in 2 months.
1) My hiatus is over.
2) I have a perfectly logical explanation.
I have made some drastic life changes in the past few months. I quite my corporate job and moved to South Korea for completely different employment. I needed a change of pace and I am much happier now.
Transitioning from Canada to South Korea has taken some time, hence the lack of activity on the GKP.
I have gifted more than 80 Gypsy Gems since September 2011. I haven’t gifted any in South Korea yet, however I can’t wait to make more and gift them in this part of the world.
All my love,
Until Next Time,

..Rant..
Gypsy Gems,
I have had a lot of recent feedback regarding the name: “The Gypsy Karma Project” since I have joined the Tumblr community. Unbeknownst to me, the word Gypsy is considered a derogatory term, by some. In North America, (where I reside) this word holds a completely different meaning, one that is not derogatory.
I have never associated the term Gypsy with any negativity.
For a definition of Gypsy per the Oxford dictionary please click HERE – and refer to my very first post. You may be surprised to see that Gypsy is defined by the Oxford dictionary as a nomadic or free spirited person. I associate the word with freedom, free spirit and a love for travel - similar to the Oxford dictionary’s definition.
I chose the name “The Gypsy Karma Project” after considering what the words mean. Karma to me encompasses random acts of kindness. And since this project began with me setting forth travelling while gifting hand-made, unique jewels to strangers I met along the way, I thought “The Gypsy Karma Project” was the perfect name to illustrate my journey of gifting, spreading love and hoping to sustain the dying species of random acts of kindness.
After much thought and consideration – I will not be changing the name of this project. This is personal blog documenting my journey and if it offends you, I am sorry. Offending you was not my intention. But I cannot please everyone.
Hater’s are always going to hate. So feel free to hate, and feel free to never return to this URL.
The word Gypsy is just a word. Words are socially constructed, and I clearly grew up in a environment where the word was not offensive. Labels, and words can change over time. But they only change when people decide to stand up to challenge the norm. When I think of the word Gypsy, I do not think of negativity. Rather, I think of positivity. I associate the word with free spirit, and the word represents the way I am gifting these jewels to Gems all over the world.
Until Next Time,
Much Love.

PS.
My favourite thing about hate mail is when I get called “white”. I am not white, nor could I ever even pass for a white person.
..Make Shit Happen..
Gypsy Gems,
Today I took some of my own advice and I made shit happen - see inspiration HERE.
I gifted 5 gypsy jewels today, 4 are on their way to their destinations:
- Montreal, Quebec
- Ottawa, Ontario
- Milan, Italy
- Panama City, Panama
…and number 5 was given to a beautiful gem who I connected with on tumblr. Oh, how I love the tumblr community.
Here are images of 3/5 gypsy jewels gifted today.

..Best Decision..
Gypsy Gems,
Today I came to the realization that creating the Gypsy Karma Project was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Before you decide that I am full of sh*t, let me explain why -
The GKP has given me the opportunity to connect and reconnect with people. I approach strangers and make connections with people, by gifting them a handmade one of a kind jewel. I hope to create moments for people by spreading a little love and conducting a random act of kindness.
This blog also gives Gems the opportunity to connect with me, and request Jewels. I have had a number of people connect with me through friends or stumbling upon this blog.
Finally, the GKP gives me the opportunity to reconnect with people. I have reconnected with so many important people I have lost touch with. The GKP has been the vehicle I need to regain touch. I have reconnected with so many special people and they each seem to have an interesting story.
I have reconnected with: a past colleague from the days of working at an up scale suit store in Halifax, friends I have met during travels abroad, a stand partner from high school orchestra, and various university and school friends.
Let me ask you this: Have you lost touch with special people in your life? How will you re-connect with those people?
Until Next Time,
Much Love.
